DESCRIPTION

The See Gin from Steinhauser on Lake Constance comes with 48% vol. and 700 ml and brings with it fine aromas. In addition to juniper, the classic ingredient for a gin, lemongrass and lemon balm are added to the mix of botanicals.

These ingredients give Steinhauser’s Lake Constance Dry Gin its special character. The brand recommends trying the gin neat, but also doesn't refuse a lake gin and tonic. However, you should use a high-quality tonic water, such as Thomas Henry Tonic.

The SeeGin is produced according to the specifications of a traditional London Dry Gin. Steinhauser Gin calls the in-house See Gin, based on this process, Lake Constance Dry Gin.

What does London Dry Gin mean?

First of all, it is important to note that the term "London" in London Dry Gin is not limited to the city of London itself. Since 2008, any gin that meets certain requirements can be labeled London Dry Gin. The gin must be distilled exclusively from agriculturally produced ethyl alcohol. The botanicals that give the gin its individual character must be mixed with this alcohol and distilled again. In the case of See Gin from Lake Constance, for example, these are lemon balm and lemongrass. In addition to the botanicals, only water can be added to the gin. Colorings are completely prohibited and the sugar content also plays a crucial role. In a London Gin, the content of sweetening products should not exceed 0.1 g per liter of gin. With a London DRY Gin, no sweetening products may be added at all.

Ultimately, the alcohol content plays a role. For a London Gin, this must not be less than 37.5% vol. The SeeGin overcomes this “hurdle” with ease, because with its 48% vol. it has a decent drinking strength. Steinhauser's end product is so impressive that the gin received two awards in 2014. At the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC 2014) the SeeGin received a gold medal with the title “Oustanding” and a trophy in the “London Dry Gin” category. These awards paint a clear picture of the high quality of Steinhauser Bodensee Dry Gin. But it's best to try it yourself.

Fragrance:

Ripe fruits appear on the nose right from the start. Sun-kissed oranges and fresh, spicy lemon pepper come together with a fine note of juniper.

Taste:

The lemon pepper remains and kumquats, pink grapefruit and other citrus tones appear to fill out the taste.

Departure:

The finish remains peppery and spicy. Alm
