Glendalough Spring Gin 41% Vol. 0,7l

The distillery is the initiative of a group of friends who came together from Wicklow and Dublin for the noble goal of awakening Irish small-scale whiskey production.

After whiskey, they also started making gin, with which they also achieved extraordinary results, and this lot is a wonderful example of this.

In the course of history, in the 18th and 19th centuries, more than 200 distilleries operated in Ireland, of which very few remain today. New harbingers like Glendalough are coming, and they certainly add color and make the Irish palette special.

By the way, the name of the distillery means "valley of 2 lakes", that is, one of the most beautiful and most visited valleys in Ireland. This special distillate is made in this fabulous environment at the foot of the Wicklow Mountains.

The valley is also famous for the 6th century monk monastery, the saint St. Kevin appears on the label. He is the scion of a rich family who got lost in the forest. He prayed and meditated a lot, and since he became almost one with nature, the birds looked at him in the same way and rested on his arms several times. While on one of these occasions a bird laid an egg on his arm, he waited for it to hatch and took it as a sign that he could set out and found the "City of 7 Temples" in the valley.

It is made in small quantities, with very slow distillation and with extreme care, the rising distillate is let through the basket, which contains the spices and herbs. At each distillation, the "cutting point" is different, as the perfect gin is decided based on smell and taste.

TASTING NOTES:

Smell: Fresh, invigorating thanks to floral and earthy notes. Juniper, coriander, blueberry and blackcurrant leaf.
Palate: Spicy, floral, green and pleasantly warming. Like the first breath of spring, which carries the wind of new life.
Finish: It is accompanied by long, citrus notes and pleasant flowers.
