Ardbeg Private Reserve Single Cask 1565 Oloroso Whisky 51% vol. 0.70l

Cask 1565 slumbered in a dark corner of Ardbeg warehouse 3 until it was rediscovered there. The whisky was distilled on May 23, 2000. For the finish, the creation was embedded - with the greatest care - in a former Oloroso sherry cask, which gave the smoky component a subtle sweetness. The Cask 1565 was only bottled in 2022 and now amazes with its rich intensity.

Color: antique copper

Nose: Rich and wonderfully bold. Syrup toffee, smoked orange peel, muscovado sugar and Brazil nuts fill the nose. A splash of water reveals sherry notes of fruit, nuts, dates and figs.

Palate: Lush and mouth-filling, with molasses, toffee and Brazil nuts with embedded ginger chocolate. Before saying goodbye, notes of paprika, leather and anise develop.

Finish: An intense, long-lasting finish that combines smoke with spices and dried fruits.

Ardbeg Private Reserve: The History of Fass 1565

It all started in 1998 when Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, began filling ex-sherry casks. Originally, the cask was filled with Glenmorangie Original before the Ardbeg whisky found its place in it. Fans of the distillery should now prick up their ears, because only 3 years after the whisky was distilled, the well-loved Ardbeg Uigeadail appeared on the market for the first time. This is exactly what the Cask 1565 should have become, but when Dr. When Bill Lumsden tasted this cask, he was so amazed by the luscious flavors that he set the cask aside for an exceptionally long aging period. 21 years passed during which the whisky was able to expand its previously rich notes to a crescendo.
