Compagnie des Indes Spiced Rum 40% Vol. 0,7l

Compagnie des Indes Spiced is certainly the last string missing from the Compagnie des Indes bow: spiced rum. The Burgundy firm was one of the first to offer demanding blends and single casks to the French public. It is now offering us a bit of fun, with this rum intended for cocktails.

This blend from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela has benefited from a maceration of natural spices. Rather than using artificial flavourings, Florent Beuchet let a mixture of ginger, vanilla and cinnamon infuse for a fortnight. Thus, the colour is natural and comes from the spices. As always, the transparency is there, and we are told that 15 grams per litre of organic cane syrup have been added.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose of this spiced is extremely fresh. It has vegetal, spicy and finely fruity notes, which give us the impression of a real perfume. The ginger generously releases its peppery and lemony aromas, while the cinnamon and vanilla begin to advance their comforting sweetness.

The palate is first seized by a resolutely "spicy" side, with a ginger that blows hot and cold. It is reminiscent of exotic peppers such as timut or sechuan, which carry a few nuances of fruit, especially citrus.

On the finish, the cinnamon joins the fruit and creates a little Christmas biscuit. The vanilla caresses the palate and is accompanied by a well rounded sensation.
