DESCRIPTION

The Dauphin Calvados VSOP comes from the Pays d'Auge, a region in northern French Normandy that is world-famous for Calvados cultivation. Calvados is a brandy made from apple wine - cider.

The designation "Calvados" and the seal of origin are subject to strict regulations. The Dauphin Calvados bears the seal "Calvados Pays d'Auge Contrôlée", which states that not only the apples for this Calvados must come from the Pays d'Auge, but also the the entire production process through to the finished Calvados has to take place there. The Pays d'Auge is known for its excellent apples, which give Calvados its incomparably fresh and fruity taste.

The fresh apple cider is fermented into cider, which matures in barrels for one to two years before distillation. For the Dauphin Calvados VSOP, the cider is distilled in small copper pot stills to obtain the rough spirit, which is again stored in oak barrels before the second distillation and second storage in oak barrels.

The VSOP rating ensures that the last storage lasted at least 5 years.

The taste of the apples ripens wonderfully and the Calvados gets its dark golden colour.
In the nose and on the palate, the Dauphin Calvados VSOP convinces with the scent and taste of ripe apples. It is dry on the tongue and wonderfully sweet at the same time.

This gives the fruity freshness of the apples a slightly tart note.

You shouldn't be put off by the 40% volume, because it's still mild.
